Mind your peas and kumquats!

It’s not rocket science! We all know the recommended servings of fruits and vegetables is 4-5 cups a day, especially for children ages 9-13 (2 1/2 cups – vegetables, 1.5 cups – fruits). But once we start taking care of life in the REAL WORLD, how do we make it happen? Here are a few tips to make it easier for parents, kids, and even grown ups alike … 1. Keep ‘ready-to-eat- fruits and vegetables available in a place we see most. This means: a. Eye level in the fridge b. On the kitchen counter c. In the lunchbox d. In the “after sports practice” cooler 2. Send a fruit AND a vegetable with lunch 3. Make a “colors of the rainbow” chart and check off the different colors of fruits and vegetables your kids are eating each week. 4. For a little extra insurance, try a whole food supplement like Juice Plus.
